I recently became interested in researching my families heritage, so I decided to start with my father's surname BEATTY. When I began ~ I had no idea how much information was out there and how overwhelming it could become. It's like putting a puzzle together and solving a mystery, but luckily I enjoy doing both.

Each day, I'm finding more and more clues that show what kind of blood I have running through my veins, where my ancestors came from, what they endured and what they accomplished in their lifetimes. And from what I've seen so far, they were hardworking ~ family oriented people just like us, trying to make it all work and get through each day in one piece.

My 3rd Great Grandfather Jacob H. Beatty and his brother John H. Beatty were prominent figures in their communites and a biographical sketch was done on both of them. Jacob lived in Dennis, Labette County, KS and John lived in Montgomery County, Illinois. Along with John's biographical sketch was an illustration of his property from Nov. 1873.
